Why is my computer running so slow?

  Computer Freeze Ups

It's a stressful thing at least.  You're using your PC and all of a sudden the mouse doesn't control the cursor anymore.  The cursor doesn't even blink and you have no way to close the PC down without pressing and holding the startup switch.  What you have here is a freeze up.

Some individuals refer to PC stoppages with computer error messages freeze ups but they are not. There is not much difference concerning a freeze up and a computer error since they both are types of shutdowns.  However, just plain freeze ups seem so much more enigmatic.

There was a time most freezes were caused by hardware that was installed and as it turns out, the hardware was incompatible with the computer it is installed on.  For instance, a sound card designed for Windows 3.11installed on Windows 3.1 could create all kinds of troubles including freeze ups.

These kinds of troubles aren't normal these days, but mismatched device drivers are normal.  Sometimes a mismatched driver will cause a freeze up every now and then.  Occasionally they will happen a lot more.  Drivers are installed when any new hardware is installed on a computer system.  Sometimes they will be spot on when they are initially installed, but because Windows updates will make changes in the operating system and not the drivers, a mismatch will occur sometime in the future.  Anyway, Mismatched drivers cause further freeze ups.

Fixing driver troubles was one time awfully problematical.  Now however, thanks to a wonderful new product called a driver scanner, it is straightforward.  Not only will a dependable driver scanner track down the problem.  It will upgrade the driver too.  How about that!

The following thing that has to be spoken of is viruses and spyware.  Nearly everyone does have at least a virus scanner installed on their PC.  Many virus scanners will check for and discover most spyware but not all of it.  So, get a free spyware scan to be certain you are spyware liberated because this junk can cause computer troubles while it is spying on your internet surfing habits.
When spyware or viruses are causing freeze ups they regularly are not irregular like the freeze ups driver mismatches cause.  These freeze ups will render your PC inoperable.

Lastly, when it comes to a freezing computer, registry corruption could be the trouble.  An operating system's registry is basically what makes it work.  All the information about users, programs, hardware and even the operating system itself are controlled in the registry.  When the registry becomes corrupt it may not have the information it should and so the OS will be unable to finish what it was doing.  Without realizing what to do after that, the computer will just freeze, or as is more often the case, produce an error message.

Easier than even running a virus, spyware or driver scanner is using a registry cleaner.  A registry cleaner is a tool necessary for keeping our operating systems, especially Windows XP and Vista registries running fast, error free and without freezing.

As time goes on, it is becoming required to have a registry cleaner, virus cleaner, spyware cleaner and a driver scanner installed on your computer.  With these tools installed, you can take care of just about any predicament a PC could toss at you.  Take heart though, even if you need all the tools spoken of in this article, it isn't so terrible.  The makers of these software programs have package deals where you can buy them all at once for a lot less than you would have thought!
